Description of the field of study: 

First-cycle degree programme provides theoretical and practical preparation required for developing and implementing modern biotechnologies; design of and technical provision for production lines, their proper operation in various branches of food, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry and in environment protection. Additionally, students in this field of study learn selected topics in information technology, economics and production quality. They gain elementary knowledge in intellectual property protection and patent law and they can use patent information resources.

  • fermentation technology and technical microbiology
Graduate profile: 

Graduates with a degree in biotechnology can operate at the interface of technology and the latest methods in experimental biology; they can cooperate with specialist in related disciplines. Analogically to all other graduates from Lodz University of Technology, they too have at least B2 foreign language competency.

Graduates from a first-cycle degree programme are prepared to work in biotechnology and related industries (primarily, in food production industry); to use technological devices and to carry out biotechnological processes; to work on biological material using the latest research equipment at research laboratories. They are competent users of computer technologies and they know the basics of economics. Graduates can further develop their professional skills or successfully pursue second-cycle degree programmes or they may choose to run their own business related to production or commerce. Their comprehensive education improves their employability and enables them to easily meet professional requirements in other areas.
