The programme of study in the field computer science as delivered by the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering (EEIA) is focused on students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills related to modern IT technologies and tools. The programme is comprehensive and covers a range of topics concerned with both hardware as well as with programming – all resting on solid foundations. Students acquire the necessary knowledge in the area of economics and project management and have good communication skills in English.
The teaching is delivered by highly qualified EEIA academic staff who have both teaching experience and scientific achievements in computer science. Students are trained at modern and globally unique laboratories both scientific and research laboratories as well as industrial laboratories where, depending on their interests, students explore computer science and related fields. The Faculty cooperates intensively with many ICT companies whose representatives take part in the design and periodic reviews of the curriculum and in the process of education. Students have the opportunity to complete their placements and internships at those companies. Students can also pursue their interests by getting involved in the activities of many scientific student organizations at the Faculty or by participating in research conducted by the Faculty research staff.
The achieved qualifications can be applied in knowledge-based economy, in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as in various branches of industry. Student in the field of study computer science acquire competences which are appreciated in the job market. The studies prepare them to solve different problems related to information technologies. Graduates are prepared to work alone as well as part of a team. They are qualified to manage and organize work of large interdisciplinary teams.
