Civil Engineering

Students acquire basic civil engineering knowledge in strength of materials, general civil engineering, structural mechanics, building materials and concrete technologies. Students acquire competences required of designers during classes such as concrete, steel and timber structures, soil mechanics and foundations. They are familiarized with computer-aided design and management. They acquire a solid basis in mathematics and mechanics, new computation techniques, reliability of structures, production automation and organization. Graduates, having fully acquired design and organization competences, are ready to work creatively on any buildings and engineering structures, to work in construction or to manage and supervise construction processes and coordinate large construction projects. In the course of education there is a strong emphasis on learning the requirements for civil engineering that are in effect in the European Union. The curriculum for the field of study civil engineering is designed so that graduates could be employed in the integrated Europe. The curriculum is consulted with the Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Technicians - Lodz Chapter, and with Lodz District Chamber of Civil Engineers, as representatives of the profession.
