Description of the field of study: 

The programme serves the purpose of training highly-qualified OSH staff to meet the needs of companies and public institutions. The programme was a winner of the Minister of Science and Higher Education competition where the prize was one million zloty. The Ministry recognized the programmes which were best adjusted to the demands of the job market. Our programme won due to the merits arising from the cooperation of four faculties of Lodz University of Technology: >>>>>>

Student complete course units such as OSH law, safety science, OSH staff work procedures and methods, electrical risk factors, ergonomics, work safety in construction, safety and protections supplies, risk assessment, investigation of accidents and incidents, technical rescue and medical emergency services, etc.

The classes are taught by friendly and competent academic staff and by specialists with professional experience in industry, representatives of public administration institutions in charge of OSH compliance and research institutes.

On graduation, each graduate may immediately be appointed senior OSH inspector. Moreover, The programme of study makes it possible to obtain additional specialized qualifications such as the professional engineer (PE) license, or the OSH systems auditor license. 

Graduate profile: 

Graduates with a degree in occupational safety engineering are prepared to work in positions which require the following professional competencies:

  • safety and occupational risk analysis;
  • design and monitoring of technical work conditions;
  • examining and identifying the circumstances of incidents and accidents at work;
  • complying with safety standards in regard to applicable legal provisions and safety procedures;
  • safety and health management systems at small and large industrial enterprises;
  • providing OSH training;
  • OSH recordkeeping and reporting.

The occupational sectors where graduates are expected to be able to be employed are: public institutions that control work conditions and technical safety, research centers, any type of enterprise in the public of private sector.
