The main objective of the education in the second cycle degree program is to broaden the knowledge acquired during the inżynier degree studies, which will enable the student to develop the professional skills required, in particular, for conceptual, expert, and scientific research work.
The program allows students to advance their knowledge in science, life sciences, technical and engineering sciences, and acquire specialist knowledge and skills in the area of systems, networks, and installations in environmental engineering, in particular:
With regard to the above, students also learn practical skills through a number of projects, engineering studies and measurements carried out in the laboratory and/or in the field, as well as through study visits and traineeship at specialized enterprises and municipal facilities. They also carry out projects and studies in cooperation with students of architecture and civil engineering, taking advantage of BIM (Building Information Modeling), which ensures that they are fully qualified for the implementation of design and construction projects in their further professional careers.
Linking this degree program with civil engineering, architecture, and urban planning allowed the designers of the program curriculum to distinguish it from similar degree programs offered by other higher education institutions, whereas the knowledge and skills learned by students allow them to pursue professional licensure of unlimited extent in managing construction projects as well as in design.
Graduates have advanced qualifications to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain heat, water supply, sewerage, heating and air-conditioning, gas, fire-safety, wastewater treatment and air purification systems, networks, and installations as well as waste management systems. Graduates are also prepared to perform and coordinate research work and they have the fundamental knowledge required to solve legal and administrative problems pertaining to environmental engineering.
They are employed by:
Completion of the second-cycle degree program and being awarded to the degree of magister is a precondition for applying for professional license in heating, ventilation, gas, water supply and sewerage systems, installations, and equipment as well as to perform independent technical functions in the civil engineering sector of an unlimited scope in the design and management of construction works, in the area previously specified. The qualifications enable graduates to work as designers and/or construction site managers and/or building and construction inspectors all of which require high professional qualifications.
Graduates are also prepared to pursue third-cycle degree programs.
