Description of the field of study: 

Ecotechnologies and Bioprocesses is the only interdisciplinary field of study in Poland based on close cooperation with the industry, combining the issues of industrial biotechnology, environmental engineering, circular economy and eco-design. It has been created for people who are interested in pro-ecological solutions, green technologies, planet and climate protection, bioenergy and sustainable development.

At this field of study, you will design and develop technological lines and use microorganisms for the needs of environmental protection. You will acquire invaluable skills in the area of waste management and biotransformation technology in the era of "zero waste", as well as learn about innovative ways of using renewable energy sources.

Studies and industrial placements will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to shape strategies for processing renewable natural resources in line with sustainable development principles. You will also learn to design new industrial products, functional food, energy and biofuels. You will become familiar with legal and environmental aspects, and be well prepared to put them into practice.

Close cooperation with companies will make it possible to visit modern industrial plants that implement the principles of the circular economy. Advanced knowledge combined with practice will make you a highly qualified engineer and a valued expert on the labour market.

Cooperation with companies: 

While studying Ecotechnologies and Bioprocesses, you get to know the labour market and build a good relationship with your future employer through:

  • Internships and work placements at industrial partners such as Biotechnika, Browin, BIO-GEN Poland, Enerbio, Polmos Żyrardów, Maspex, Krajowa Grupa Spożywcza or at scientific units of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Łukasiewicz Research Network Institutes.
  • Student internships abroad in renowned scientific and industrial centres related to ecotechnologies and bioprocesses, e.g. in Lithuania, Italy and Germany.
  • Study visits at potential employers. During study visits, industrial partners present the specifics of work in their companies and share their experience. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the particularities and scale of the production process as well as specialised equipment.
  • Meetings dedicated to students, organised at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences at which employers present the companies’ business profiles, offers of work placements, internships, job offers and recruitment rules.
Job perspectives: 

Graduates of the interdisciplinary field of Ecotechnologies and Bioprocesses are prepared to work in:

  • production companies using renewable natural resources,
  • companies dealing in recycling and energy recovery,
  • companies producing, storing, transporting and distributing bioproducts,
  • consultancy companies involved in designing and developing technologies and raising funds for the implementation of planet-friendly solutions,
  • research and development units and sectoral laboratories related to industrial and environmental biotechnology and bioeconomy,
  • state and local administration, non-governmental organisations dealing with circular economy management,
  • business – pursuing their own business activity.

Graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies in master's and doctoral programmes in their own country and abroad.
