Bioeconomy is an interdisciplinary inter-university degree program with unique goals and educational results. The idea behind the program is not only to convey specialist knowledge, but above all to develop creative thinking skills aimed to build a competitive, innovative economy based on technologies based on the latest advances in science and technology.
The curriculum will be implemented under the cooperation agreement signed between Lodz University of Technology and Warsaw University of Technology.
Specialization: industrial biotechnology in the bioeconomy
Industrial biotechnology in the bioeconomy was created at the suggestions of industry representatives regarding the changing job market and the expectations of future graduates. It is a response to the constantly growing demand for experts in the field of new legal regulations, bio-product economics, and economic processes.
The curriculum is based on the latest advances in technical and economic sciences and technological solutions related to bioeconomy. Apart from the latest knowledge, the curriculum develops innovative approaches to problem solving taking into account sustainable development, and builds up competence to cooperate in science and business. The curriculum introduces new technologies and advisory assistance, familiarizes students with the sources of funding for innovation-oriented activities and presents the possibilities of supporting, creating knowledge and innovative awareness of entrepreneurs and the society.

The program will use the following forms of instruction: lectures, seminars, laboratories, projects, and other creative forms of teaching and learning in thematic groups, using presentations, interactive seminars, and traineeship.
Having completed the second-cycle degree program, the graduate will have an advanced understanding of bioscience analysis, biomass conversion processes and their development trends involving specialized equipment, the principles of closed loop economy and sustainable development as well as advanced research methods that take into account environmental and economic determinants. Furthermore, they will be acquainted with the main development strategies of industrial biotechnology and environmental engineering to the extent appropriate for the bioeconomy, the related dilemmas of modern civilization, and the factors influencing industrial activity.
The knowledge and skills acquired during their studies, allows graduates with a degree in the interdisciplinary field of bioeconomy to work in the broadly understood bioeconomy, including:
manufacturing companies using renewable natural resources, including the agri-food, energy, and related sectors,
businesses involved in the production, storage, transport, and distribution of bioproducts,
recycling and energy recovery companies,
state and local administration, non-governmental organizations dealing with bioeconomy management and creating knowledge in this field,
analytical laboratories, diagnostic stations dealing with biological and chemical analytics and quality assessment of biosourced materials and bioproducts,
Graduates are prepared to take up 3rd cycle studies and are able to develop their professional skills through postgraduate programs and continuing education. With their interdisciplinary education, they are able to run their own business and can easily cope with the requirements of jobs in other fields.
