Dear International Candidates!

We kindly ask you to review the admission procedures carefully before you start your application process.

This part of the website is dedicated to those candidates who are eligible to pursue education or training and participate in research and development work in compliance with the rules applicable to non-Polish citizens.

Those candidates who want to pursue education or training and participate in research and development work in compliance with the rules applicable to Polish nationals, should follow the application procedures set for Polish citizens.

According to Polish law, a foreigner is a person of a citizenship other than Polish. A holder of a few citizenships, including Polish, is treated on the territory of Poland as a Polish citizen. Any person who does not have Polish citizenship shall be regarded as a foreigner.

 

FOREIGNERS ELIGIBLE TO STUDY IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES APPLICABLE TO POLISH NATIONALS

1. The following persons are eligible to pursue education or training and participate in research and development work in compliance with the rules applicable to Polish nationals:

  • non-nationals who have been granted a permanent residence permit,
  • non-nationals who hold refugee status granted by the Republic of Poland,
  • non-nationals who have been granted temporary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland,
  • migrant workers who are nationals of a Member State of the European Union or a Member State of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area – and the members of their families if residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland,
  • non-nationals who have been granted a European Union long-term residence permit on the territory of the Republic of Poland,
  • non-nationals who have been granted a temporary residence permit on the territory of the Republic of Poland pursuant to the circumstances referred to in Article 127, Article 159 section 1 or Article 186 section 1, subsections 3 or 4 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners,
  • non-nationals who have been granted subsidiary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland,
  • nationals of a Member State of the European Union or a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area - and members of their families, having the right of permanent residence.

They follow the same admission procedures as Polish citizens.

 

2. Foreigners enlisted below can choose whether they want to pursue education or training and participate in research and development work in compliance with the rules applicable to Polish nationals or to the rules laid down for non-Polish citizens:

  • Nationals of the Member States of the European Union, of the Swiss Confederation, or the member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area – and members of their families who have funds necessary to cover their subsistence costs during a period of study,
  • Holders of a valid Polish Charter Card (Karta Polaka).

FOREIGNERS ELIGIBLE TO STUDY IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES APPLICABLE TO NON-POLISH NATIONALS

Persons not aforementioned are eligible to pursue education or training and participate in research and development work in compliance with the rules laid down for non-Polish citizens. Those are mainly third countries citizens.

They may pursue education and training and as well as participate in research and development work on the basis of:

1) international agreements, in compliance with the rules therein,

2) agreements concluded between higher education institutions and foreign entities, in compliance with the rules defined therein,

3) decisions of the minister competent for higher education or other competent minister,

4) decisions of the rector of a higher education institution.

 

They may pursue education and training as well as participate in research and development work :

1) as holders of scholarships awarded by a Polish partner,

2) on a tuition fee-paying basis,

3) free of tuition fees and with no scholarship entitlement,

4) as holders of scholarships awarded by the sending partner, and free of tuition fees,

5) as holders of scholarships awarded by higher education institutions.
